Researcher at the Digital Data Design Institute / HBS AI Institute at Harvard Business School, and the corpus’s most-cited author of field-experimental evidence on generative AI and knowledge work.
Two papers, both in Organization Science, both preregistered field experiments with large professional samples, and together the wiki’s strongest empirical line on what AI does to people doing real work:
- [[2026-04-28-dellacqua-jagged-technological-frontier|Navigating the Jagged Technological Frontier]] — the BCG study that named the jagged-frontier and measured individuals against an uneven capability boundary.
- [[2026-06-12-dellacqua-cybernetic-teammate-field-experiment-genai-teamwork|The Cybernetic Teammate]] — 791 professionals at Procter & Gamble, measuring teams: AI-equipped individuals matched two-person teams, dissolved functional silos, and improved self-reported affect, while human judgment held its value in evaluative selection.
Read as a pair they move the same question up a level — from how well does a person do with AI to can AI stand in for a colleague — and the second paper leaves the first’s construct explicitly open, naming whether humans’ mental models “track the technology’s jagged capabilities” as a critical unresolved frontier.
Frequent co-authors in this corpus: Ethan Mollick and Karim Lakhani, both on the Cybernetic Teammate author list.
